William “Yama” Chillingworth will present photographs from his new book and Linda Elliot will discuss the Hawaii Wildlife Center during this month’s Hanohano O Kona lecture.

Chillingworth is descended from Native Hawaiian planters and bird catchers and his photography has been exhibited at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. He will be presenting photographs from his new book, “Io Lani: The Hawaiian Hawk,” winner of the 2015 Ka Palapala Pookela Award of Excellence in Illustrative or Photographic Books, and describing his efforts to find and photograph this endangered raptor.

Elliot is the founder, president and director of the Hawaii Wildlife Center and will be talking about the wildlife response organization in Kapaau that protects, conserves, and aids in the recovery of Hawaii’s native wildlife.

The lecture is slated 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at West Hawaii Civic Center in Kailua-Kona.
